"O
give thanks unto the Lord for he is good: for
his mercy endureth forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord
say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;"
Psalm 107:1-2
As part of the redeemed we want to give personal thanks and praise
to our Lord for giving us traveling mercy and safety as we have
traveled thousands of miles since our last prayer letter. Thank
you also for your faithful prayers. We thank you for your
financial support, but it is your prayers that we covet the most. When
we were hundreds of miles from home and the bus we were traveling
in broke down, we know that it was the prayers of God’s people
that got us going again without major incident. The Lord
hath redeemed us from the hand of the enemy and we thank him for
he is good! We also thank you for your prayers!
During the month of July we took a few days off to spend time with
our family, especially our grandbabies. It was a wonderful
time of rest and refreshment which we needed very much. But
our vacation was over too soon and we were up and running again. I
preached a Camp Meeting in Burnsville, NC and two mission conferences
in July. We also made the trip to Pierre, South Dakota for
the Mid-Western Camp Meeting. I can not begin to tell you
what a wonderful time we had! Many missionaries, not only
Macedonia’s, were encouraged and helped. Praise the
Lord!! Thank you if you helped make this possible. Only
eternity will reveal the blessing it was for the missionaries and
their families
As I look over my calendar I see no let up in August. The
first of August we will be interviewing two new men at the Mission
Board that have applied to go with Macedonia to be church planters
out West. One of these men is Brother Steve Sykes that we
mentioned in the last prayer letter. Thank you for praying
for him. I am hoping to spend some time with one of our missionaries
Brother Richard Johnson in August and help him raise money
to buy a building in New York City for a church building. Jan
and I will also be spending time in August out West to help some
of our missionaries there. Please pray for our safety. I
will be preaching several mission conferences this month
as well. Pray that these churches will grasp a greater vision
for reaching the world with gospel.
In closing I have a special prayer request. Please pray for
our missionaries that are on deputation. Some seem to be struggling. There
are four men in particular that desperately need to be on the field. They
are Danny Vaughn, John McKinney, Mark Shumaker and Andy Simpson.
Please help us pray that the rest of these men’s support
will come in soon so that they can be gone.
Thank you again so much for your prayers!
