January/February 2004
Dear
Pastor, Church and Co-Laborers,
And now
for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a
remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may
lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage. Ezra 9:8
I
opened our letter last time with the same verse, and had all intention of using
another verse that God has been burning in my heart. However, as I sat down to write this letter and read this verse
again I was struck by the thought that the little space that grace hath been
shown to us has grown even smaller.
Precious time has swiftly passed through each of our lives, never to be
recaptured. Time is passing and with it
opportunities are lost.
A few
weeks ago, I learned from a fellow missionary that the only church in Modesto,
California has now had two pastors consecutively leave their wives for other
women. Practically destroying the only
gospel light in this community. As many
of you know, God has burdened our heart already about the need for another
church in this area, but now, not only is our burden increased but also a sense
of urgency in realizing that the only witness in this area has suffered so much
and there is nothing to take its place.
Imagine a city of almost ½ million people and this is the only
church. Please pray that God will
enable us to get to this area this year and begin a fresh work in this
city.
Two
days after Christmas my mom suffered a stroke.
Please pray for her as she continues to recover from the stroke. She is having some problems with her throat
as a result and she is in a high risk category for having another. Thank you all so much for your prayers as we
have traveled a great deal these past few weeks. We have been in some great churches and have met some wonderful
people. These churches have been so
kind and gracious to us and God has used them to supply some urgent needs that
we had. Please pray for Bryson as he is
still struggling with salvation. He is
asking many questions and is very concerned but it just hasn’t fully connected
with him about how he can be saved.
Brandon’s eating is getting better.
Mainly we have started calling him Cheeto boy as this has become his
favorite food. He is beginning to
nibble on some things that are a little more difficult to chew, so he is making
progress with his eating difficulties.
It seems as if I have ran out of space , so I will finish by thanking
you so much for all your prayers and financial support. We are very near the 60% mark on our support
level and have many meetings scheduled for the next few months. Pray for open doors, and clear highways.
His
servant,
Andy Doss
